Boat Renovation and Improvement Projects
Here is the complete list of potential renovation and improvement projects, I would like to do on the boat. Of course, the realization of these projects depends on avaliable time, money and motivation :)
List of potential upcoming projects:
1. Exchanging the two flush deck hatches. The glass (actually some kind of acrylic) has hundreds of fine cracks in it and two out of three hinges on the bow hatch is broken. The plan is to exchange these this summer.
2. Replacing the isolation material in the engine compartment. The foil surface is just falling off the material at the moment. Planned for this summer.
3. Improving ventilation by installing solar powered vents and/or making adjustments so that hatches/portholes can be opened for ventilation.
4. Installing a simple 230v electrical system to the boat to make it possible to charge main batteries, laptops etc when in port.
5. Getting a set of extra mattresses for aft and starboard cabins to improve sleeping comfortability.
6. Installing some kind of floor surface in the saloon. Something sturdy that is also easy to clean.
7. Adding a connection between a suitable deck fitting and the septic tank so that it can be emptied in port. Emptying septic tanks on open water has been made illegal since a few years back.
8. Exchanging all lightbulbs to LED's.
9. Replace the existing portholes. In the current ones the acrylic glass is cracked in the same way as in the flush deck hatches.
10. Installing a bowsprit with place for anchor. Will make it easier to get onboard and a shore as well as providing an easier way to lay an extra anchor in for instance case of emergency.
The following is what has been done so far (on top of general maintenance/repairs):
Renovation of the fresh water engine cooling system.
Installing hydraulic steering system.
Renovation of the 12v electrical system. Some rewiring along with upgrading wires and installing extra fuses.
Deep cleaning of all instruments and wooden surfaces in the cockpit.
Installing a stereo system with sets of speakers both in the pilot house and in the saloon.
